A 2D hack and slash game based off the original game in 1985.
Gauntlet is a fantasy-themed hack and slash dungeon type game originally released in 1985.
Bring back a little bit of the 1980's nostalgia gaming with this "Gauntlet Clone", hack and slash your way through Arcade, Custom (user-designed maps or developer), ZXSpectrum,NES levels of warrant mayhem and destruction.
Take the lead of one of the main characters Warrior (Thor), Valkyrie (Thyra), Wizard (Merlin) or Elf (Questor) and pick your wits against ghosts, grunts, demons and others, it's your turn to remember what gaming was all about in that classic time period of 1985.
Design
In this current version, large amounts effort has been made to make the graphics feel more 1985, what with new UI graphics been designed and use less smoothing, also the underpinning of the game has been redesigned, from the ground up this is the biggest change since it’s first release in 2016.
Gamepads
In this current version “October 2020” gamepad controllers have been implemented tested devices are XBOX, PS4, and 8BitDo, other controllers may work. If lag is an issue and you can do so plug it directly into the device, as it’s a fast-paced game so everything can keep up.
Map Editor
I've added the facility to make your own maps using a Custom Map Editor. You can download this from the website, why not get a little fame when others play your level(s) you have created, all we need is a level name, your developer name, and a description if you want, just create them and send the maps to use, a complete explanation is provided.
Game Play
The game will work on any resent device, but the larger device “none gamepad” you can use the better, as the sensitivity is key here; the game has been played on multitude of real devices form 6-10 inch, and the larger the screen the better the experience.
Be aware that the controls work like the original (I cannot emphasis this enough), you cannot move and fire at the same time, if you want this feature, go to the main settings and change Classic to Modern (as requested by users).
Every effort is made to release new content in a timely matter.
Ads System:
There is an internal ad system but YOU, make the choice to use it or not, if your health is low, also the ad system is NOT pre-initialised so your data tariff is safe until you need to use the ads, but because of this they will take longer to start.

Added in a modern version of the new touch control system, it can be changed by going to the settings dialog and changing it from classic to modern, it makes it less harsh, also updated the settings dialog to make it easier to change the settings.
By updating the settings dialog, I've also reworded some of the information to be more descriptive.
Add two new NES maps.
Also updated some of the monster code, to make it more responsive.
Also takes into account the armour better of the hero.

1) - Added a new Map.
2) - Fixed the treasure cider bottle pick up now gives the hero the proper health.

1 - A brand new control system has been introduced, which is more direct.
2 - A control colour scheme has been introduced Go into settings to change the control colours.
3 - rebalanced the characters in both sets.
To that end for example elf/wizards no longer eradicate generators, but magic power is greater.
4 - New Device to play.
5 - A hoarding ability has been introduced, to make the monster follow better if within a certain distance.

1 - Completely redesign the animation system, it now uses more traditional means.
2 - Added 7 Custom Levels.
3 - Rewritten a lot of the monster code, I'm hoping now it feels a little better to play, with the different monsters that are available.
4 - Dropped the initial health down from 2000 to 1500 as users were saying it was too high and unrealistic.
5 - Ghosts now should herding more realistically, I've spent a great deal of time trying to get the monsters to behave better.

Firebolt of the Demon & Sorcerer, need line of sight to fire not just proximetry.
A good chunk of the code has been rewritten, to improve playability and minimize power use.

I've completely rewritten the joystick controls, I wanted this to happen in the last release but was too far down to implement it in, it now should be more responsive and work better on smaller screens as the accuracy has been greatly improved.
Also updated the splash screen graphics to be larger.
Improved the movement speed of the individual characters.

1) - Added arcade levels 37-41.
2) - Added custom level 17.
3) - Bug fix, because of the engine upgrade, this bust the melee for all monsters, this should now be fixed in this version onwards.
4) - New ad system implemented.
5) - Watching an ad now produces 1000 health previously 200 health.
